A little while back, we had an offering for some land our church needed to buy.  My dad asked me if I would be willing to give.  The Lord had already put a number on my heart, but it was quite a lot.  At first, I told my dad yes. I told him how much I was thinking and he was a little surprised.  He told me to pray about it some more.  After praying, I knew the amount didn’t change.  But after I told my dad and made the commitment, I became discouraged. That was a lot of money – gone.  My dad noticed my discouragement and he challenged me.  Would I really trust God with this step of faith and let him use it in my life to grow me?  I decided right then that I would and immediately I wasn’t discouraged any more and knew I had done the right thing.

That was a Saturday night.  Then next day, Sunday, I came to church more spiritually encouraged than I had been in a long time.  I knew I could trust God and that following His way was the best decision I could make.
